Question
Can graphic design mesh with fineart?

A:

Answer
It seems like to the average joe that "fine art" means something that is painted on a canvas, silkscreened on illustration board, sketches, sculpted, and all other sorts of medium. But who says you can't combine the 2 disciplines together into one medium. I took a challenge of taking elements of what I knew best, using typography and imagery, and tried to create a 'masterpiece' artpiece using the silkscreen method. I complished this by separating the main colors and using my hand silks to be able to separate the "graphic" vs. the area of paint needed to be applied. This was so much fun but was alot of work. Nothing compares to this method when combining computer work with hand craft skill. It takes alot of patience and commitment to come up with the end result, my very own graphic design "artwork."
